GOLDBUG REPLACEMENT TUNER KNOBS

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

These fine quality parts are designed to fit on “Shaller” tuning machines. They will also fit all other sealed gear tuning machines. Other tuning machines may use a slightly smaller sized drive shaft than “Shaller” and MAY require a thin brass shim to be installed in the Goldbug knob before they are assembled on to the drive shaft. This is easily accomplished with the supplied shims.

Follow the instructions below before determining
if shims are required. THEY MAY NOT BE .

INSTALLATION OF GOLDBUG KNOBS

1. Release tension on strings.
2. Remove screw from end of original knob.
3. Remove original knob from drive shaft being careful not to remove or lose the washers.
4. Simply slip the Goldbug knobs onto the drive shaft and reinstall the original screw and tighten.

Shims, if required, are installed by laying the Goldbug knob flat on a surface and then slipping the shim inside the knob to rest on one side of the drive shaft hole, against the flat. Then carefully slip the Goldbug knob with the inserted shim onto the end of the drive shaft but do not force it all the way down. Just get it started. Inspect the assembly by peering thru the screw hole and make certain the shim does not obstruct the threaded hole on the end of the drive shaft. Insert the screw and after starting the threads by hand use a screwdriver to pull the knob all the way onto the shaft and tighten.

If the screw bottoms out before it is tight replace original washer (.030” thick) with our washer (.060 thick) or replace the original screw with our shorter screw.
